California's Strategies for Supporting Youth Advocacy

Abstract: The California Youth Advocacy Network has become an integral part of the tobacco control movement in California. Since 1997, CYAN has been providing many services, including training and technical assistance on youth advocacy issues; maintaining a statewide advanced youth advocacy coalition; hosting statewide youth advocacy conferences; and organizing statewide youth campaigns.

This presentation will showcase: California’s youth movement, exemplary youth projects, meaningful opportunities for youth involvement, and strategies for building statewide support of local youth programs.
