Abstract:
Problem/Objective: The objective of YNOTQUIT is to reduce the number of tobacco users throughout West Virginia and to properly train physicians on how to prescribe NWT’s.
METHODS: Partners in Corporate Health,Inc.(PCH)researched existing quitlines. PCH consulted and developed a unique relationships with world renown tobacco cessation experts. PCH reviewed the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Training Tobacco Use and Dependence and consulted with contributors of this publication. A training (BeatNic) was developed and implemented to educate physicians on NWT’s.
RESULTS: Six month post surveys indicated that quit rates are higher among those who utilized the phone coaching services vs. those who did not. Physicians have become more educated on NWT’s.
Discussion: Quit rates are higher among people who utilize phone coaching services. A complete enrollment process is imperative. Physicians have become more knowledgeable in prescribing NWT’s and are confident in consulting with PCH regarding NWT’s.
Audience: Health care providers who need to become more knowledgeable in prescribing NWT’s and groups who want to learn about phone coaching and quitlines.
