Learning Objectives: · Identify, review and select material through researching the Internet and other sources. · Adapt and develop effective material through a step-by-step model and case studies.

Abstract: An essential component of a successful tobacco control project is having appropriate education materials for your targeted audiences. When time and resources are limited, finding which resources may already exist or adapting or developing your own material can be daunting.

By the end of this interactive presentation, participants will have learned how to:

· Identify, review and select material through researching the Internet and other sources.

· Adapt and develop effective material through a step-by-step model and case studies.

This session is a collaboration among the three oldest and largest tobacco clearinghouses (California, Massachusetts, and Florida) in the country and will include lessons learned and effective practices through presentation and interactive discussion.

Participants will receive a "how-to" handout that addresses developing tobacco education materials using a concise step-by-step model, "The Incredible Journey form Idea to Impact," and two case studies, "Fresh Air for Little Noses" (adapting material) and "A Tool Kit for Corporate Donations" (developing original material). Lists of national resources, including web links, of general and topic-specific organizations related to tobacco control and prevention will also be provided.
