Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, the participant will be able to successfully use the Tobacco Survey Database to search an historical database of state and national surveys for tobacco-related questions, locate survey questionnaires, survey data, and documentation.
Abstract: The Office on Smoking and Health, CDC, has created a database of state and national health surveys that fielded tobacco-related questions including the Adult Tobacco Survey, BRFSS, Current Population Survey, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, National Health Interview Survey, National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, and National Youth Tobacco Survey. The database will allow health scientists to search across surveys for questions of interest including current and past tobacco use, dependency measures, cessation, knowledge and attitudes and a variety of other tobacco-related topics. Additionally, the web site will include links to survey questionnaires, data, and documentation which will further enhance the ability of the tobacco control community to successfully plan and conduct analyses of public-use survey
