Gaylene R. Mooney, RRT, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Area Health Education Center-Southwest, Respiratory Care Department, MooneyGayleenR@uams.edu

Learning Objectives: learn strategies for replicating the University of Arkansas' program model.

Abstract: The center’s existing clinically-based smoking cessation program will be refined and expanded to incorporate approaches to dealing with African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American and low socio-economic status populations. The model will be duplicated in six other regions and then state-wide. The program will provide services and training resources for schools, hospitals, health care providers and other relevant organizations throughout each affected region. Health care professional students and residents will be exposed to them as well.
