| The Harvard School of Public Health and Roswell Park Cancer Research Institute are organizing a training session on how to measure respirable suspended particles (RSP) using the TSI Side Pak Aerosol Monitor. It is designed for participants who wish to measure levels of RSPs during the Chicago meeting or who wish to borrow equipment later in the year to measure RSPs in bars and restaurants in their community. (The training organizers are exploring ways to loan air quality measurement equipment to trained participants so that they can conduct their own research following the meeting.) Six teams of participants will be selected to measure RSPs on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, May 4 and 5, in 36 Chicago bars and restaurants that allow smoking. Each team will be expected to measure six sites. Data will be analyzed on Friday morning, May 6, and a preliminary report will be issued at the closing plenary later that day. The training session will be held on Wednesday, May 4, from 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., and preregistration for the training will be required. Interested in participating in the study? After you register for the Conference, go to the Registration Update page on the National Conference Web site (www.tobaccocontrolconference.org) and click on the Indoor Air Quality Study link. | |||
