Learning Objectives: Describe the toll tobacco takes on individuals in North Dakota, and be able to adapt this presentation model to their own demographic area.
Methods:"Research state specific Tobacco Statistics. Solicited personal stories from tobacco survivors and family members regarding addiction, disease, and death. Combine the statistics and stories to show the toll tobacco takes on all of North Dakota."
Results:"This presentation shows a very visual representation of how tobacco has affected these people and their families, as well as North Dakota as a whole. The presentation puts faces with stories and makes the toll of tobacco much more personal and real."
Conclusions:"A professional presentation model like this can be completed with in depth research of local tobacco data, as well as allowing personal stories to be submitted and considered for addition to the presentation. Careful consideration should be done in finding proper locations to present this material. Ideal locations include: health fairs, health conferences, hospital lobbies, public health offices, schools, community centers/events, or any site where the general public may gather."
