Hands-on Training for Youth Advocates

Learning Objectives: Explain how to best use the media to your advantage Describe how to set strategic goals to effect change in a specific target area Demonstrate the ability to get the media to cover your event with an accurate perspective

Audience: Youth

Key Points: 1) Creative Activism; building an activism event with strategic goals to accomplish change in a target area. 2) Center of Attention; strategic communications, talking to media, and public speaking

Learning Objectives: Explain how to use the media to your advantage, including getting the media to cover your event. Outline strategies to use to get the media to cover your event from the angle you want. Explain how to cross the line and build upon creative activism and media advocacy to send purely educational messages.

Benefits: This will be a hands-on, interactive workshop using young adult and youth trainers with diverse tobacco control backgrounds to train youth advocates & provide the skills and knowledge to continue building the capacity of their local and state movements.
